The Southwest Park and Recreation Training Institute is inviting professionals to share ideas and experiences at the 69th Southwest Park and Recreation Training Institute, February 2-5, 2025.

We are seeking original, thought-provoking proposals that will enable attendees to share with and learn from one another about innovative practices and emerging trends impacting the broad field of Parks and Recreation. Sessions should incorporate educational methods, provide replicable hands-on knowledge, and demonstrate measurable outcomes and results. Sessions will offer CEU credits and are intended to educate and support learning.

Session proposals will be accepted until June 3, 2024 and are encouraged to be submitted as soon as possible.

SWPRTI Notice: Status of the 66th Annual Institute in 2021

January 8, 2021
The Board of Directors of the Southwest Park and Recreation Training Institute has decided to postpone and reschedule the 66th annual Institute from 2021 to 2022. The annual conference was previously scheduled to occur February 7-10, 2021 at Sequoyah State Park and Lodge in Oklahoma. The new date for the Institute will be February 6-9, 2022.

This action has been taken by the Board in response to the challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States and in our membership region. We recognize that physical distancing is paramount to preventing the spread of the disease and have listened to the concerns from health experts along with federal and state government officials, warning against hosting large, in-person gatherings.

Tim Phillips, President of SWPRTI, stated: “These are challenging times for all Americans – especially the professionals working in the fields of park and recreation, conservation and tourism. This is a difficult decision that we have reached; however, the health and safety of our members are paramount.”
